Although her beloved ODU Monarchs aren’t in the final 4, Ask Jen is going full court press to explain and dispel some common myths home buyers have about buying a new home. Here is the list of her Final Four new home myths that need to be busted.

Myth 1: A New Home Costs Too Much

New homes may seem like they are more expensive in the initial purchase they could actually save you more in their heating and cooling costs. Since the technology has changed so much, even in the last five years, owners of new homes will receive the benefits of greater energy savings over the life of the property. Plus new homes are being outfitted for today’s families, with wireless connections, surround sound systems, and other cool features that require money and time for existing home buyers to put in.

Myth 2: It Takes Too Long to Buy a New Home

A common misconception is that is take six months at the very least to purchase and build a new home, but many of our builders have inventory homes ready to move into now. We currently have over 100 homes from Gloucester to Moyock, North Carolina that are ready and waiting for buyers. Often buyers are still able to pick finishes or paint colors. Don’t let a time table stop you from purchasing a new home, you never know you dream new home could be ready for you now.

Myth 3: They Don’t Make Them Like They Used To

GOOD! Today’s builders use the latest technology and building methods to ensure our homes are safe, energy efficient and will last. When you purchase a new home you also get a builder’s warranty that will cover the roof, windows, and other items.

Myth 4: The New Communities Don’t Feel Like a Neighborhood

Myth 4: New home Communities don't feel like neighborhoods, Rose & Womble Realty

New home communities are designed with today’s buyer in mind. Many of our communities have walking paths, dog parks, playgrounds, pools and fitness centers on site. Many of today’s homes feature great front porches designed to sit and hang out with your neighbors. It doesn’t matter if you’re a first time home buyer or an Empty Nester, we have a community that would be perfect for you.

Make sure you tune in every Wednesday at 12:00pm where Ask Jen will take your Facebook and Twitter questions about our featured new homes community of the week.
