Our New Homes Specialist, Jen Barkan, is proud to host a weekly social media chat called #AskJenLive! Every Wednesday, Jen brings an adoptable dog with her while she features an available new home or new homes community on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. As if that isn’t cool enough, each new construction builder that participates in the program sponsors the dog by paying for its adoption fees once a suitable owner is found! Jen is 100% committed to finding people and pets their forever homes in Hampton Roads and beyond! She has five dogs of her own at home, and each one is a very special member of the Barkan household!
I started out my day by picking up the sweetest little Shih Tzu, Hershey at the wonderful Norfolk SPCA. Hershey is five years old, and is great with children and other dogs. His owner surrendered him because she no longer had the time to devote to this sweetheart. He has been recently neutered and is up to date on all vaccinations.
Poor Hersey has had a rough past, but that hasn’t affected his loving disposition. He was attacked as a puppy, and lost an eye as a result. You would never know, because his adorable haircut hides this injury. Hershey spent most of his life outdoors, although he wanted to sit on my lap and snuggle me all day!
My co-worker, Bridget, joined me and we took Hershey to Petco for some treats! Within minutes, Hershey was stealing hearts and making friends. After we got some snacks, we continued our field trip just behind the shopping center to Hampton Roads Crossing. This community is so lucky to have Kroger, Ulta, Ross, Petco and so 
much more within walking distance!
Upon entering Hampton Roads Crossing, I couldn’t help but notice the streetscapes and the thoughtful design of this community. The clubhouse definitely stood out as an impressive amenity. This area has an outside pool, a kitchen, gathering room, fitness center, conference room, and more! While I was checking out the scenery, I ran into John Wells and he chatted with me about the sense of community that he has enjoyed for the last five years.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Rose and Womble’s on-site Realtor, Linda Anderson and discussing Hampton Roads Crossing. Linda explained that home ownership is a dream for many of her visitors until they realize that they can often own for less than what they are paying in rent!
