Throwback Thursday! Last Thursday, October 6, 2016, Rose & Womble Realty Co. had the pleasure of attending the groundbreaking of the Hampton Roads’ St. Jude Dream Home at Fieldstone in Chesapeake, VA. The St. Jude Dream Home will be built by Kirbor Homes. Last year, it was built by Stephen Alexander; Stephen Alexander has passed the torch to Kirbor Homes but continues to be involved in this amazing project.
The groundbreaking drew quite a crowd from all sides.
Jack Pavlat was present for the groundbreaking and spoke about how his life was redefined by St. Jude and the help that they provided his family in their time of need. Jack’s beautiful daughter, Suzie, courageously battled cancer for 8 years. Jack credits St. Jude with giving he and his wife, Barbara, an extra four years with their daughter that they would not have had otherwise. Jack’s family was housed by St. Jude for 22 months while Suzie received the best care available, and never once did they receive a bill. They were able to keep the focus on their love for their daughter Suzie, and to enjoy every day with her.
Although Suzie passed away at the young age of 11, Jack has endless stories about Suzie and gives tremendous credit to St. Jude for their devotion and assistance. Jack spoke about Suzie drawing the winning ticket for the very first St. Jude Dream Home in this area. There was not a dry eye in the crowd while Jack spoke.

Tickets to the Dream Home at the brand new Fieldstone neighborhood in Chesapeake, VA will be sold for $100. The proceeds of the Dream Home giveaway will benefit St. Jude, one of the world’s leading pediatric cancer research centers. St. Jude Dream Home Giveaways across the United States are raising important funds for children at St. Jude.
